THE first heavy rains of 2023 have exposed the PNM Government’s failed promise in dredging watercourses.
There were floods in traditional areas and even in some unusual places, such as Wrightson Road, Port of Spain.
After the disastrous floods of last November, the Government faithfully pledged to clear rivers, tributaries, and drains in a timely manner.

In and out of Parliament, the UNC advised that the Government was failing to deliver on this critical undertaking, and now, true to form, rains have brought typical results.
We again caution that unless there is extensive and prompt cleaning of all water channels, Trinidad and Tobago would again face massive floods during the 2023 rainy season.
